Trump says US will not attack Iran before midterms
Original: Trump says U.S. will not attack Iran before midterm election
President Donald Trump said the United States will not launch an attack on Iran before the upcoming midterm elections. The statement comes amid ongoing tension over Iran's nuclear programme and speculation about possible US military action. Commenters are weighing whether the pledge is a genuine de-escalation or an attempt to avoid foreign-policy volatility ahead of the vote.
Why now: The pledge ahead of the US midterm elections fuels debate over whether military action against Iran is being delayed for political reasons.
