Original: European Envoy Sends Message to Ankara: “We Must Not Forget That the Whole of Cyprus Is Part of the EU and That Turkish Cypriots Are EU Citizens”
A European envoy has sent a message to Ankara stressing that the whole of Cyprus is part of the European Union and that Turkish Cypriots are EU citizens. The remark underscores the EU's long-standing position that, despite the island's division, membership applies to the entire island and its people, and it is drawing attention amid ongoing tensions over Cyprus's status and Turkey's role there.
