Catholic Church Musicians Association Marks 50 Years With New Name
Original: New name, same mission: The National Association of Catholic Church Musicians celebrates 50 years
The National Association of Catholic Church Musicians is marking its 50th anniversary, and has adopted a new name while stating it maintains the same mission. Founded half a century ago, the organization supports musicians serving in Catholic liturgy across the United States. Catholic news outlets report that members view the rebrand as a reaffirmation of its commitment to sacred music, even as parish music ministry faces changing congregational needs and a shrinking pool of trained musicians.
Why now: The organization's milestone anniversary and name change are being covered by Catholic media, drawing attention from those involved in church music ministry.
