Japanese comedian Bakarhythm, 50, appeared as a guest on a YouTube video posted by Naoki Hanawa, 48, of comedy duo Knights, on December 8. During a conversation about apprentices, Bakarhythm expressed surprise that Hanawa, a junior comedian, has two disciples, remarking that theirs may be the only generation of comedians without any.

Why now: Fans of Japanese comedy are reacting to the candid exchange between two well-known comedians about the rarity of taking on apprentices in their generation.
