Original: This week's "sick out" by engine-room workers on Washington State Ferries shut down numerous routes and raised questions
Engine-room workers at Washington State Ferries staged a 'sick out' this week, forcing the closure of multiple ferry routes across Puget Sound. The coordinated absences have raised questions about tensions within the crew and whether deeper problems are affecting the operation of the ferry system overall, which serves as a vital transit link for the Seattle region.
