Trump Administration Suspends Microsoft and Adobe from PERM Program
Original: Trump Administration Suspends Microsoft, Adobe and IT Firms from PERM Program
The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft, Adobe and other major IT firms from the PERM program, the labor certification process used to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency. The move bars some of America's largest technology employers from sponsoring green cards for skilled immigrant staff, and is drawing attention across the tech industry and among immigration advocates who warn of wider consequences for foreign workers.
Why now: The suspension directly affects thousands of skilled immigrant workers at major tech companies and raises questions about future immigration policy.
