Mattel has released a new Barbie doll modeled on tennis champion Serena Williams, available starting today. Williams says the doll matters to her because she had limited access to Black dolls growing up, and she pushed for the figure to have naturally curly hair texture. The doll recreates her 2025 outfit from the tournament where she won her seventh Wimbledon title.

Why now: Fans are reacting to a high-profile new Barbie celebrating one of the greatest tennis players, with attention on its representation of Black women.
