Kennedy Center Board Under Scrutiny After Trump Takeover
Original: kennedy center board
The Kennedy Center's board is drawing renewed attention amid fallout from President Trump's takeover of the institution's leadership. A singer who once performed at the venue's opening has spoken out publicly, saying the current direction of the iconic Washington arts center appalls her. Critics describe the changes as politicizing an institution long meant to be independent, while supporters back the shake-up.
Why now: Trump's overhaul of the Kennedy Center board and leadership has reignited debate over the politicization of a national cultural institution.
