JD Vance Announces PERM Suspensions for Microsoft, Adobe and IT Giants
US Vice President JD Vance has announced that PERM labor certification processing is being suspended for Microsoft, Adobe and other major IT employers. The move, if confirmed, would block these companies from sponsoring employees for permanent residency while the suspension lasts. Reaction is splitting along familiar lines, with immigration restrictionists cheering the decision and tech employers and foreign-born workers warning of disruption and uncertainty.
Why now: A senior administration official targeting green card sponsorship at major tech firms touches both immigration policy and the tech labor market.
