Imperial County Supervisors Push Special Election on Data Centers
Original: Two Imperial County supervisors press for special election on data centers
Two Imperial County supervisors are calling for a special election to let voters decide on data center development in the county. The move comes as California's Imperial Valley attracts growing interest from data center projects, raising local questions about land, water and power use. Details of the proposed ballot measure and its timing have not yet been reported.
Why now: Local residents are weighing the economic benefits and environmental costs of expanding data centers in the region.
