Pentagon says Fort Hood shooter's execution will be livestreamed
Original: Pentagon says the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed
The Pentagon says the execution by firing squad of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former Army psychiatrist behind the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, will be livestreamed. Hasan has been on death row since the attack that killed 13 people. The decision to broadcast the procedure has drawn attention to how the military carries out executions.
Why now: Livestreaming a military execution is unprecedented and raises questions about transparency and protocol.
