Forty-five Scottish police officers suspended over alleged crimes against women

Original: Forty five Scottish police officers suspended over alleged crimes against women

Police Scotland has suspended forty-five officers over alleged crimes against women, with Chief Constable Jo Farrell warning that more officers are likely to face action as the force carries out re-vetting of its staff. The scale of the suspensions has drawn attention to how police forces handle misconduct and violence against women within their own ranks.

Why now: The unusually large number of suspensions and the ongoing re-vetting of officers make the story topical amid wider concern about police misconduct against women.
