Trump awards Musk and other tech leaders science medals
Original: Trump awards Musk and other tech titans National Medals of Science
President Trump has presented the National Medal of Science to Elon Musk and several other prominent figures from the technology industry. The honours, among the highest US scientific awards, recognise contributions to science and innovation. The ceremony is drawing attention for its heavy tilt toward well-known tech executives rather than career researchers, sparking debate about the medals' prestige and the administration's ties to Silicon Valley.
Why now: The unusual choice of honourees, pairing top government recognition with high-profile tech billionaires, is prompting debate about the award's integrity.
