Sheinbaum to meet US ambassador over police academy row

Original: roberto velasco álvarez

Mexican officials have summoned the United States ambassador after Washington questioned its role at a Mexican police academy, and President Claudia Sheinbaum will receive the diplomat. Roberto Velasco Álvarez, the Foreign Ministry's senior official for North America, is involved in handling the dispute, which has drawn attention to frictions over US involvement in Mexican security training.

Why now: Tensions between Mexico and the US over the ambassador's comments are a current diplomatic controversy driving interest.
