Jacob Fowler takes over in goal for the Canadiens

Original: jacob fowler

Montreal Canadiens rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler is drawing heavy attention as he takes over the starting job following an injury to Samuel Montembeault. Fowler made his first start of the season in Chicago as the Habs opened a four-game road trip, and analysts are tracking his early form closely — one fantasy hockey report has him 'flying high,' though a 5-2 loss to Nashville put his play under scrutiny. Mike Matheson also returned to the lineup.

Why now: Fowler is unexpectedly thrust into the Canadiens' starting goaltender role after Montembeault's injury, making his performance a hot topic for Montreal fans.
