German Greens supporters push for AfD ban, attack CDU
Original: Wenn der Faschismus zurück kehrt, wird er hören "Willkommen zurück mein Freund, hier sind Blumen für dich". # afdverbot
A political commentary circulating among German-speaking users argues that when fascism returns, it will be welcomed with flowers rather than resisted. The post, tagged with calls for a ban of the Alternative für Deutschland (#afdverbot), directs its sharpest criticism at the CDU/CSU, accusing the Union parties of acting as the far right's helper. Hashtags including 'Merz must go' and references to Saxony-Anhalt frame the debate as anger at centre-right cooperation with the AfD.
Why now: Ongoing debate in Germany over whether to ban the AfD and criticism of the CDU's stance toward the far right
