Fort Hood shooter's execution to be livestreamed, Pentagon says
Original: Pentagon says execution of Fort Hood shooter will be livestreamed
The Pentagon says the execution of Nidal Hasan, the army psychiatrist who killed 13 people in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, will be livestreamed. Hasan, convicted and sentenced to death for the attack, is set to die by firing squad on 3 December. The decision to allow a live broadcast is drawing attention, as executions are rarely shown publicly in the United States.
Why now: The unusually public livestreaming of a US military execution is unprecedented and shocking.
