Orkut, Google's once-popular social network that was shut down in 2014, is drawing renewed attention after a link to orkut.com gained traction on Hacker News. The submission collected 11 points and a handful of comments, with users reminiscing about the platform that was especially beloved in Brazil and India before Facebook overtook it.
Why now: Nostalgia and curiosity about whether the defunct social network's domain is active again are driving the discussion.
