Interceptor drones take centre stage in Russia-Ukraine air war
Original: дрон-перехватчик
St Petersburg has showcased the Gaduka interceptor drone, said to down up to 20 unmanned aircraft per sortie. Attention is turning to drone-versus-drone combat: thousands of interceptors may clash over Kyiv, while Ukraine reportedly received munitions to counter Russian jet-powered drones. Germany is also trying to help Kyiv deal with these hard-to-intercept drones.
Why now: Both sides are racing to field interceptor drones as cheap jet-powered attack drones become harder to stop with conventional air defence.
