US to livestream Army execution of Fort Hood shooter
The Pentagon plans to livestream the US Army's execution of the Fort Hood shooter, according to a Reuters report. It would be an unprecedented move to broadcast a US military execution to the public. The decision is drawing attention because federal executions are normally closed to the public and witnessed only by a small group, raising questions about transparency, precedent and the ethics of streaming a killing.
Why now: The unprecedented decision to publicly livestream a US military execution is a striking departure from longstanding practice.
