U.S. military to livestream firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter
Reports claim the U.S. military will livestream the execution by firing squad of the Fort Hood shooter, convicted of the 2009 attack that killed 13 people at the Texas army base. If accurate, it would mark the military's first execution since 1961 and a highly unusual decision to broadcast it publicly, drawing debate over transparency and the ethics of televising capital punishment.
Why now: The claimed broadcast would be an unprecedented step for the U.S. military justice system, touching on debates over capital punishment and transparency.
