Justice Still Elusive 25 Years After Tom Wales Murder
Original: 25 Years Later, Tom Wales' legacy endures while justice for his murder remains elusive
Twenty-five years after federal prosecutor Tom Wales was shot dead in his Seattle home, no one has been charged with his murder, though investigators have long focused on an airline pilot allegedly angered by Wales' volunteer work with a gun-safety group. Wales is remembered as the first sitting US federal prosecutor killed in the line of duty, and his legacy continues through a foundation bearing his name.
Why now: The 25th anniversary of an unsolved, high-profile murder has prompted renewed coverage and reflection.
