Lithuanian Parliament votes to lift ban on hosting nuclear weapons
Original: Lithuanian Parliament passes first vote to lift ban on hosting nuclear weapons
Lithuania's parliament has approved a first vote to remove the country's legal ban on hosting nuclear weapons on its territory. The move marks an early but significant step in a debate over whether NATO nuclear arms could be stationed in the Baltic state. Supporters see it as a response to security concerns amid tensions with Russia, while critics warn it could escalate regional risks.
Why now: Heightened security concerns over Russia have put NATO nuclear sharing in frontline states back in the spotlight.
