Hawaii candidate Awa vows to serve only one term in Congress
Original: Awa seeks one term in Congress: ‘I don’t care’ about world policies
Hawaii candidate Awa says he would serve just one term in Congress if elected, arguing that limiting his time would free him from career-politician pressures. He also drew attention for saying 'I don't care' about world policies, signalling a sharply domestic, Hawaii-first focus for his campaign.
Why now: A congressional candidate openly rejecting world affairs and pledging a single term is an unusual pitch drawing attention during election season.
