NHRC Sends Notice to Delhi Police Over Harassment Allegations
Original: NHRC Sends Delhi Police Notice Over Journalists' Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Its Personnel
The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Delhi Police after journalists accused its personnel of sexual harassment. The rights body has sought a detailed report from the force on the allegations and action taken. The development adds to scrutiny of police conduct toward reporters covering protests in the capital.
Why now: A national rights watchdog formally intervening against the capital's police over harassment claims is a significant accountability development.
