IMSS workers threaten strike after failed talks at Gobernación
Original: secretaría de gobernación
Workers at Mexico's IMSS are threatening to go on strike after a meeting held at the Secretaría de Gobernación failed to reach an agreement. The talks, intended to resolve the labor dispute, broke down without a deal, prompting union representatives to warn of work stoppages. The standoff puts pressure on federal authorities to reopen negotiations and avert a strike at the country's main social security institute.
Why now: A failed labor mediation meeting at the Secretaría de Gobernación has raised the threat of a strike at IMSS, a major public institution.
