Texas plans to broadcast an execution live
Original: öffentliche hinrichtung usa
Texas is moving to allow a public execution to be broadcast live, with reports describing the live transmission of the execution of a man convicted of a rampage killing. It would be an unusual step in the United States, where executions are typically witnessed only by selected observers and journalists, reviving debate over whether such broadcasts are justice or spectacle.
Why now: The proposal to livestream an execution in Texas is unprecedented and raises sharp ethical and legal debate.
