Mamdani heckled at October 7 vigil
Original: Mamdani brushes off pro-Hamas heckling at Oct. 7 vigil
New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was heckled by pro-Hamas hecklers while attending a vigil marking the October 7 attacks, and brushed off the interruption. The incident draws attention to tensions around antisemitism and the Gaza war in New York politics, with critics and supporters weighing in on Mamdani's response and his record on Israel-related issues.
Why now: Mamdani's candidacy and his stance on Israel-Palestine issues keep him at the center of controversy, and a heckling incident at an October 7 vigil feeds that debate.
