Original: patrick sabatier
French journalist Patrick Sabatier has recalled that his salary was multiplied by ten when he joined the channel La Cinq, saying he could not refuse such a dazzling offer coming from a modest background. The anecdote about the 1980s private channel's lavish pay has caught attention, with commentators noting what it reveals about the era's television money and working-class origins.
Why now: A veteran broadcaster's candid remark about his spectacular pay rise at La Cinq is striking amid ongoing interest in French television history and salaries.
