Federal agents identified as ICE in New York shooting despite police denial

Original: Although the police stmnt, which said # NYC officers were not involved in the # shooting & not at the shooting site, did

Police in New York said city officers were not involved in and not present at a shooting, but the statement did not identify the department of the federal agents involved. Two people familiar with the matter have identified them as ICE agents. Questions are being raised about which agency was responsible and why police did not name the federal department in their official account.

Why now: The reported presence of ICE agents at a shooting, unacknowledged by police, raises accountability questions at a time of intense scrutiny of federal immigration enforcement.
