Original: Pentagon says the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter will be livestreamed
The Pentagon says the execution by firing squad of the Fort Hood shooter, the man convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 attack at the Texas army base, will be livestreamed. The announcement is drawing attention to how military capital punishment is carried out and who will be able to watch it. Further details about the timing and arrangements remain limited.
Why now: The unusual decision to livestream a military execution is a striking and rare development in a long-running case.
