India denies bias in satellite internet approvals after Musk criticism

Original: boss

India's government has rejected suggestions that its approvals process for satellite internet services favours any company, responding after Elon Musk mocked the country's leaders as 'oligarchs'. The dispute touches the contest for India's satellite broadband market, where Musk's Starlink competes with local operators such as Reliance Jio for spectrum and licences.

Why now: Musk's 'oligarchs' remark about India triggered a public government rebuttal amid the Starlink licensing fight.
