Hegseth Visits USS Abraham Lincoln Ahead of Homecoming

Original: uss abraham lincoln (cvn-72)

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited the USS Abraham Lincoln, an aircraft carrier that has been deployed for an extended period, to present the ship with a top award before it returns home. The visit highlights recognition of the crew's long deployment, which included operations supporting US military missions in the Middle East. The carrier is now heading back to its home port.

Why now: The rare visit by the defense secretary and the end of a long deployment are drawing attention to the carrier's homecoming.
