Parents use AI to skip paying for school photos
Original: 'People use AI to avoid paying for school photos, but they don't realise the consequences'
Some parents are using artificial intelligence tools to generate school-style portraits of their children instead of buying official photo packages, according to a BBC report. The practice raises concerns about copyright, photographers' livelihoods and image quality, with warnings that many users do not understand the legal and practical consequences of generating these images themselves.
Why now: The growing availability of AI image generators is prompting debate about whether replicating commercial school photos is fair or legally sound.
