Diesel prices near €2.90 spark alarm in Ireland
Original: Fakkinell! Highest diesel pump prices in Ireland Perry, Oil Cuckoo Corner, Carlow €2.88 Applegreen Dublin €2.86 Emo, Wex
Irish drivers are sharing reports of sharply divergent diesel prices across the country, with a station in Carlow listed at €2.88 a litre, Applegreen in Dublin at €2.86, and Emo in Wexford at €2.26, while Sligo garages sit as low as €2.23. The original poster later corrected the figures, saying a decimal point error had inflated the highest prices, but the comparison of regional price gaps is still drawing attention.
Why now: The unusually large gap between fuel prices at stations in different counties caught drivers' attention and prompted debate about pricing practices.
