The USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group has received the Presidential Unit Citation, one of the highest US military unit honours. The award was marked as the carrier arrived in San Diego, with mission symbols and kill/victory artwork displayed showing completed operations against Iranian aircraft, ships and drones. The decoration recognises the strike group's performance during its deployment amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
Why now: The high-profile award ceremony and the carrier's return home drew attention to the strike group's combat record against Iranian forces.
