Polish politician Grzegorz Braun, leader of the pro-Russian Confederation of the Polish Crown party, said he supports resuming the Nord Stream gas pipeline and economic cooperation with Russia. According to Polish broadcaster TVN24, he remarked that he "loves the smell of Russian gas in the morning." His comments have drawn criticism given Poland's stance on Russian energy since the invasion of Ukraine.
Why now: Braun's openly pro-Russian comments about Nord Stream are provocative and controversial in Poland, a firm opponent of Russian energy dependence.
