French students call fresh protests over education funding
Original: Live: French high school, university students call for fresh protests as funding demands grow
French high school and university students have been called to protest again on Thursday, two days after large demonstrations demanding more funding for education. The government has responded with a series of conciliatory gestures, but student groups say concessions fall short of their demands, keeping pressure on authorities as the protest movement shows no sign of easing.
Why now: Student protests over education funding are escalating and the government's response has not defused tensions.
