Sony Faces Backlash Over Digital-Only Push and VR Patent Sale
Original: sony interactive entertainment
Sony Interactive Entertainment is drawing criticism from multiple directions this week. Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden questioned the company's move to phase out disc drives, asking what players actually own in a digital-only future. Separately, reports say Sony sold around 40 virtual reality patents to Meta, while the LISA DualSense controller special edition for PS5 has gone on sale alongside new merchandise.
Why now: PlayStation fans are debating Sony's digital-only strategy, its VR patent sale to Meta, and new controller releases all at once
