AK Blakemore calls Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch 'extremely silly and bad'
Original: AK Blakemore: ‘The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt was extremely silly and bad’
Writer AK Blakemore has publicly criticised Donna Tartt's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Goldfinch, calling it 'extremely silly and bad' in remarks published by The Guardian. The blunt dismissal of a bestselling and widely admired book is drawing attention, as debates over Tartt's maximalist 2013 novel — its length, plotting and style — continue to divide readers and critics alike.
Why now: A prominent young writer publicly attacking a beloved Pulitzer-winning novel is provocative literary commentary that sparks debate.
