Swedish Navy commander invokes Cold War submarine scare in Baltic message

Original: Strategic comms: 'Håll gränsen' In a report aboard a # Swedish corvette on a live mission to # Finland , Paula Wallenbur

Paula Wallenburg, operational commander of the Swedish Navy, spoke in a report aboard a Swedish corvette taking part in a live mission to Finland, using the phrase 'Håll gränsen' — hold the border. She referenced the 1982 submarine incident, when Swedish forces were put on high alert to deter Soviet navy incursions into Swedish waters.

Why now: Growing concern over Russian naval activity in the Baltic is reviving memories of Cold War-era submarine incursions.
