Navi Pillay has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The South African jurist has served on the International Court of Justice, worked as a judge at the International Criminal Court, led the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Commenters highlight her role in UN inquiries into Palestine and alleged genocide in Gaza.

Why now: The announcement of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize is fresh news, and her recent work on Gaza makes it politically charged.
