El Salvador's Vice President Accuses Journalists of Twisting His Human Rights Remarks
Original: 💥BUKELE'S VP ACCUSED JOURNALISTS OF TWISTING HIS WORDS WHEN ASKED ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS
El Salvador's vice president, Ulloa, responded to press questions about human rights by accusing journalists of distorting his words. The exchange adds to ongoing tensions between President Nayib Bukele's administration and the press, which critics say faces growing hostility over scrutiny of the government's security policies and human rights record.
Why now: Fears over press freedom and human rights under Bukele's government keep the confrontation in the spotlight.
