The USS Abraham Lincoln has docked in San Diego, completing a roughly 10-month deployment that kept the aircraft carrier and its crew away from home far longer than a typical tour. The return is drawing attention because of the extended length of the mission, with families reunited at the pier as the carrier ends one of the longer recent carrier deployments.
Why now: The unusually long 10-month deployment and the emotional homecoming in San Diego are drawing public interest.
