Dutch engineer builds EU-hosted code platform from Czech Republic

Original: Hi, I’m Marijn, a Dutch software engineer living in the Czech Republic and a firm believer in European tech independence

Marijn, a Dutch software engineer based in the Czech Republic, is developing Vault42, a Git hosting service based on Forgejo and hosted entirely within the European Union. He frames the project as a contribution to European tech independence and digital sovereignty, and says he will write about self-hosting, Forgejo and infrastructure, including the process of moving workloads to EU-controlled servers.

Why now: European digital sovereignty and reducing reliance on non-EU tech providers are currently prominent topics in EU policy and developer communities.
