Bogotá mayor Carlos Fernando Galán has publicly called President Gustavo Petro irresponsible after the president accused him on X of being a 'complice of genocide'. Galán warned that words from someone as influential as Petro could end in violence, escalating an already tense standoff between the national government and the capital's city hall.
Why now: A direct public clash between Colombia's president and the Bogotá mayor over inflammatory accusations is drawing wide attention.
