Displaced Gazans recall the day they fled home
Original: Home in Gaza: the day I had to leave
The Norwegian Refugee Council is publishing personal accounts from Gaza under the title 'Home in Gaza: the day I had to leave', in which displaced residents describe the moment they were forced to abandon their homes. The testimonies highlight the scale of displacement in the territory and the emotional toll of leaving houses, belongings and neighbourhoods behind as the conflict continues.
Why now: Ongoing displacement in Gaza keeps first-person stories of losing home and homeland highly resonant with audiences following the war.
