Nobel Peace Prize 2026 Awarded to Navi Pillay

Original: 🟠 UPDATE Nobel Peace Prize 2026 Awarded to Navi Pillay The article specifies that the award serves as a political rebuke

Reports say the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Navi Pillay, the former UN human rights chief. Commentators describe the decision as a political rebuke to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who rejected Pillay's UN commission findings that Israel committed genocide in Gaza. Supporters hail the choice as a defence of international law, while it is expected to sharpen diplomatic tensions.

Why now: The reported award directly challenges Trump and Netanyahu over their rejection of UN findings on Gaza, making it a flashpoint in current diplomacy.
