Original: Mental Health, the Church's Commitment: "It is not a marginal issue; it belongs to the heart of the mission"
The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has stated that mental health is not a marginal concern but belongs to the heart of the Church's mission. The declaration frames psychological suffering as a central pastoral priority, calling on Catholic institutions and communities to treat mental wellbeing with the same commitment as other forms of human development and care.
