Navi Pillay wins Nobel Peace Prize

Original: Former ICC judge Navi Pillay wins Nobel Peace Prize Pillay, who oversaw a UN report that concluded that Israel committed

Navanethem Pillay, the former UN human rights chief and international judge who led a UN inquiry that concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote peace and international law. The decision is drawing attention given the political sensitivity of the Gaza findings and Pillay's long career on war crimes tribunals.

Why now: The award recognises a figure tied to highly contentious findings on Israel and Gaza, making it politically charged news.
